About the Conservatory
Music is the universal language of mankind. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
What is a conservatory? In simple terms, a conservatory is a school of music. The Acadiana Conservatory of Music provides superior music education to students of all ages and skill levels in a comfortable and supportive environment.
The Conservatory offers lessons on several instruments. Piano, violin, guitar and voice lessons are the most popular, but students also can learn to play trumpet, flute, Cajun accordion, percussion and many other instruments. Our faculty consists of certified teachers and professional musicians from around Acadiana, many of whom hold advanced degrees from some of the most prestigious American universities and schools of music.
The Conservatory operates on a semester schedule that coordinates with the academic school year. Fall and Spring semesters consist of fifteen (15) private lessons once per week. The Summer semester consists of eight (8) lessons from June to August. We offer 30-, 45-, and 60-minute lessons. Group classes are generally 30 to 60 minutes, depending upon the age of students and the instrument.
