Lana Carver - Voice, Musical Birthdays, HelloASO
Lana Carver received a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. She has been a finalist in both the regional and state NATS vocal competitions, most recently placing 1st in advanced women at the state-wide competition in March 2011. Some of Lana’s roles have included Liesel in The Sound of Music, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Amahl in Amahl and The Night Visitors, Carmen Ghia in The Stoned Guest, Rosa Budd in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Miss Titmouse in Too Many Sopranos. Lana has taught private voice lessons for 4 years, and is experienced in children’s chorus, as well as adult vocal ensembles. Lana is continuously striving to become a better performer and strives to share her passion for vocal music with those around her. She is currently the Marketing Director for the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Conservatory of Music and voice teacher for the Conservatory of Music. She is also director of musical birthday parties and the children's program HelloASO for the Conservatory of Music.
Andrè Courville - Organ and Voice Instructor
Recognized at a very early age for his talent, André Courville began his keyboard studies at the age of eight and accepted his first church job at twelve. After graduating as valedictorian of Cecilia High School, Courville was awarded a full music and academic scholarship to Loyola University in New Orleans. There he studied organ with Drs. Bruce Frank and Jerry Davidson. As a result of Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Buffalo, New York where he studied with James Bigham at Canisius College
A gifted baritone, Courville recently made his operatic debut in New York City as Hermann, Schlémil, and Crespel in The Tales of Hoffmann with the Martina Arroyo Foundation. Other operatic roles include Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Simone in Gianni Schicchi, and Marquis d’Obigny in La Traviata at Opera in the Ozarks. He performed roles in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Gondoliers and Delibe's Lakmé with the Loyola Opera Theatre, and has performed with the New Orleans Opera Association. In 2005, he had the honor of performing the bass solo in Dave Brubeck’s Pange Lingua Variations with members of the Buffalo Philharmonic and the composer at the piano. Concert performances include Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 39, and the bass solos in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass and Mozart’s Requiem with the Loyola University Chorale and Orchestra, as well as the bass solo in J. S. Bach’s Cantata 82: Ich habe genug with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra.
In 2007, Courville appeared as the featured performer at an organ concert in commemoration of the Philadelphia Baptist Association’s 300th anniversary and participated in their gala concert at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts’ Verizon Hall. In addition to concert work, he has had success as a liturgical organist and choir director. After holding positions at St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church and St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in New Orleans, he was appointed the seventh Director of Music and Organist at the historic First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. There he succeeded his teacher, Alan Morrison, in a long line of distinguished musicians. Most recently, Courville was featured as an organ soloist with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Returning to Louisiana in 2008, André Courville accepted the position of Music Director and Organist at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Timothy Gaffga - Suzuki Violin, Viola
Timothy Gaffga studied String Education with Dean Angeles at Loyola University, New Orleans. For the past ten years, he has been the orchestra director of elementary, middle and high school orchestra programs the public schools of Clark County, Nevada, and Fairfax Virgnina. He has also performed in semi-professional and regional orchestras such as the ABACO Orchestra (associated with the University of Maxmilian Ludwig, Munich Germany), The Las Vegas Philharmonic, Las Vegas Chamber Players, the Arlington (Virgnina) Philharmonic and the Washington Conservatory Orchestra He has performed with artists such as Hilary Hahn, Andrea Bocelli, Burnadette Peters, Valentina Lisitsa, Nathaniel Rosen and Vanessa Williams. Mr. Gaffga is registered to teach Suzuki and has attended national music educator conferences consistently over the span of his teaching career. He is excited to participate in, teach and learn in the community of musicians in the Southern Louisiana area.
Daniel Gale - Violin, Fiddle, Cajun Accordion
Daniel Gale was born in Nashville but grew up in Ohio where he began studying classical violin and fiddle at age 4 (beginning with the Suzuki method).
During his high school and college summers, Daniel played in the Chautauqua Youth Orchestra, attended the Meadowmout School of Music, and Isaac Malkin's Academy of Music Festival.
In 2000 he graduated from Oberlin College with a self-designed BA in music which allowed him to study both classical violin and fiddle. At Oberlin, his primary violin teachers were Marilyn McDonald and Andrew Jennings.

- It was during this first visit to Lafayette that Daniel began teaching himself to play the diatonic "Cajun" accordion.
Since leaving Oberlin, Daniel has performed, toured, and recorded with numerous prominent artists in a wide span of musical genres, from classical to bluegrass, Cajun/Creole, world and ethnic. Now living in Lafayette, Daniel performs regularly with members of the best Cajun bands including:
- The Mamou Playboys
- The Pine Leaf Boys, and
- Beausoleil
Brian Gaudino - Guitar
Brian Gaudino holds a bachelor's degree in music at The College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in guitar performance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he studied with Dr. Jeffrey George. Brian has performed in many master classes with prominent guitarists such as Roland Dyens, David Tanenbaum, Adam Holzman, and Frank Koonce. In 2009 Brian took first place at the UL Friends of Music Classical Guitar Competition. He was also the recipient of the 2009 Richard Neiheisel Phi Beta Kappa Endowed Graduate Award. In addition to teaching at the Conservatory, Brian is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he teaches both classical and jazz guitar. At the Conservatory, Brian teaches guitar in any style to students of all ages and levels of experience. He is also available for lessons in other stringed instruments such as banjo and mandolin.
Rafael Henry - Piano, Boys and Girls Club Outreach
Native of Parks, Louisiana Rafael J. Henry’s musical studies began in 1992 studying Trombone, Flute and Piano with James Witlow. He later went on to study Piano and Organ Technique with Patrick Melancon. He went on to study organ proficiency with Dr. Harry McMurray at Saint Joseph Seminary College, Covington, Louisiana and Thomas Neil, Director of Music and Organist of Saint John the Evangelist Cathedral, Lafayette, Louisiana. Rafael also studied voice and vocal pedagogy at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with Margret Daniel. As a Pianist and Organist He has preformed recitals in Washington, D.C., Crestview, Florida, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, Galveston, Texas, Covington, Louisiana, Lafayette, Louisiana, and will be a guest organ recitalist in 2013 at Saint Patrick Cathedral New York, New York! Rafael is a member of the American Guild of Organist, and he is the Director of Music and Organist of Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church here in Lafayette. He has been apart of the Faculty of Conservatory since October of 2008 and he enjoys every minute of it.
Emil Ivanov - Violin
Emil started playing the violin at the age of five. He holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree from Rice University. His principal violin teachers include Blagorodna Taneva, Kevork Mardirossian, Borislava Iltcheva, Sergiu Luca. Emil has participated in numerous master classes given by such artists as Sergiu Luca, Ifrah Neeman, Kevork Mardirossian, Michael Frischenschlager, Jorja Fleezanis, Shmuel Ashkenazi, Ilya Kaler, and Paul Kantor. Emil holds prizes from several International Violin Competitions such as Pancho Vladigerov and Dobrin Petkov.
Currently Emil performs as an Assistant Principal Second Violin of Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and has been an active member of Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and Louisiana Sinfonietta since 2003. Emil is also a violin instructor at the Acadiana Symphony Conservatory of Music.
Jamie Landry - Cello
Currently majoring in Music Performance with an emphasis in Cello Performance at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. - Jamie is the principal cellist of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.
- From 2005-2006, Jamie was principal cellist of the Acadiana Symphony Youth Orchestra and was also awarded a Youth Orchestra Scholarship Award in 2006.
Cassandra Magee - Violin / Viola
Cassandra Magee is a violin/viola and piano instructor at the Acadiana Symphony Conservatory of Music. Cassandra received a Bachelor's of Music Education degree from LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1985, with emphasis in violin performance and a minor in piano. She also has a Masters of Music Education degree from LSU with emphasis in viola (instrumental music/orchestra). She has nine years experience teaching orchestra and strings classes (K-12) in the EBR Parish school system. She has also taught strings methods and music appreciation courses at Baton Rouge Community College (1999) and Southern University at Baton Rouge (2000-present). She received the Arts Ambassador Award from the Greater Arts Council of Baton Rouge, LA (1998). She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity. She has performed viola under the baton of Dinos Constanstinides as a member of the LA Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra. She is a professional symphony orchestra musician (violin/viola) and is currently a violist in both ASO and BRSO.
Taryn Marceaux - Piano and Music Educator
A native of Abbeville, Taryn Marceaux is an active pianist and music educator. She received her bachelor’s degree in music from McNeese State University with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy in 2006. She then continued her music studies at UL Lafayette, and earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance Pedagogy in December of 2008, having completed her performance and pedagogy studies with Dr. Susanna Garcia and Dr. Chan-Kiat Lim. Her previous piano and pedagogy teachers include Dr. Fred Sahlmann and Dr. Christy Vogt of McNeese State University.
Taryn has been an active member of Music Teachers’ National Association, (MTNA), Louisiana Music Teachers Association, (LMTA), Lafayette Piano Teachers’ Association, and (LPTA) and was a founding member and Vice-President of McNeese State University’s Delta Chi chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, International Professional Music Fraternity. She is a certified Kodaly teacher, and has specialized training in early childhood music education. She teaches Musikgarten classes and piano lessons at the Conservatory and in surrounding rural communities. She adjudicates at piano festivals throughout Louisiana, and has experience teaching piano privately and in groups, at elementary through advanced levels. She was a piano instructor at Our Lady of Fatima School in Lafayette for two years, and has taught class piano and applied lessons at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Bethany Padgett - Flute
Bethany Padgett is an active flute teacher and freelancer in Louisiana. She is second flute of the Louisiana Sinfonietta, and has performed flute and piccolo with Opera Louisiane, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra and the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. She also plays piano and cello in addition to the flute.
Bethany is pursuing her doctorate in flute performance at Louisiana State University, where she studies with Katherine Kemler. In 2010 she was the recipient of the Everitt Timm Scholarship and the Louisiana State University Wind Ensemble Scholarship. She received her Masters in flute performance at Illinois State University where she was awarded a Graduate Assistantship, taught at the Community School for the Arts, and studied with Kimberly Risinger. She received her Bachelors in flute performance from Western Michigan University where she studied with Christine Smith and taught private lessons and group classes at the Kalamazoo School of Music and Dance.

Bethany has been active in many organizations including Sigma Alpha Iota (a professional music fraternity), Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Music Teachers National Association and the National Flute Association, and she is currently the secretary for the Louisiana Flute Society.
Bethany joins the ASO Conservatory Faculty as a flute teacher, piano teacher, and an early childhood music educator.
Luddita Salama - Voice

Awards: Most Outstanding Graduate in the College of Music, December 1992; Recipient of numerous Scholarships and Pell Grants during undergraduate years, ex: San Antonio Pipers Foundation 1984, San Antonio College Full Music Scholarship 1984-1986, University of South Alabama Music Scholarship 1988-1991, Pell Grants 1988-1992
Experience: Professional Solo and Ensemble singing with various symphonies and operas such as the San Antonio Madrigal Singers, Mobile Opera, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, and Carnegie Hall with USL Chorale. Accumulatively 20 years of professional voice instruction and performing.
Voice Teacher at the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra Conservatory of Music since June 1996. Professional soloist since December 1992 for various church functions, weddings, and gigs. Also, Full-Charge Bookkeeper for various companies since April 1993 including Acadiana Symphony Association.
Membership: Member of Sigma Alpha Iota Lafayette Alumnae Chapter since 1996. Served as President of the Alumnae Chapter from 2002-2004. Recipient of the SAI Sword of Honor in 2004. Performed in the 2006 SAI National Convention in Orlando, FL.
Professional Soloist, Cantor, and Music Advisor for St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church since 1995.
Samuel Trevathan - Percussion
Mr. Trevathan hails from Murray, Kentucky. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Murray State University. At MSU, he studied with Dr. John Hill. He is currently working towards his Master of Music in Percussion at Louisiana State University where he studies with Dr. Brett Dietz and Troy Davis. At LSU Sam has performed with the LSU Hamiruge Percussion ensemble, the LSU Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Sinfonietta, and LSU Wind Ensemble.
He has attended and performed at numerous events including Percussive Arts Society Conventions, PAS Kentucky Day of Percussion, PAS Louisiana Day of Percussion, and Michael Burritt’s Marimba Seminar at Northwestern. He has also performed with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Trevathan has worked with some of Kentucky’s finest educators and performers at events like Kentucky Music Educators Association and Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts. His teaching experiences range from students in kindergarten to the collegiate level. Sam has taught at numerous regional Middle Schools and High Schools in western Kentucky.
He is also teaching privately through the LSU Music Academy. Sam also enjoys hiking and fishing in his free time.
