Founded in 1987, the Acadiana Symphony Women’s League provides service and financial support to the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra & Conservatory of Music. With a membership of over 150, this group gives thousands of hours of service and raises tens of thousands of dollars annually.
Service Projects on which ASWL members work are:
The Mad Hatter's Luncheon
The Acadiana Symphony Women's League is proud to present the Mad Hatter's Luncheon & Style Show in the spring each year. Proceeds from this fundraiser support the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra & Conservatory of Music’s educational programs, including Do-Re-ME!, Link Up, and Conservatory Scholarships. This fun luncheon includes a style show, a hat contest, a silent auction, the Mad Hatter and his gang, and many surprises along the way. Hats are optional but encouraged. Approximately 200 – 250 people attend the luncheon every year. Now selling tickets!
Volunteers help provide food for symphony musicians at the ASO dress rehearsals throughout the season and assist with transportation of guest artists.
Take A Chair
ASWL raises money for the orchestra through its Take a Chair campaign. Donors can honor or memorialize their loved ones in a special way while directly supporting the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Take a Chair contributors sponsor a favorite instrument of musician in the orchestra. Click here for more information on Take a Chair.
Active members are requested to participate both financially and with volunteer hours each year on major fundraisers. They are also required to participate on at least one other service or educational committee and to attend general meetings.
