About Acadiana Symphony Orchestra

The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra is one of only three in the United States that is associated with a Conservatory of Music. This unique partnership sets ASO apart from other symphony organizations in the country. The mission of the ASO, and its Conservatory is unified in order to achieve a cohesive approach in the development of high quality performances and educational programs.
The Conservatory of Music occupies a building purchased by our founding supporters. Our faculty consists of 22 certified teachers/professional musicians from the Acadiana area with advanced degrees from some of the most prestigious American universities and schools of music. The unique educational component of our organization and our programming sets the ASO apart from other arts organizations in our area.
The ASO and its Conservatory invests in the education of the children of Acadiana in numerous programs and experiences. Free educational concerts, classes and programs for thousands of local students are offered each season. The ASO also offers on-stage performance opportunities for hundreds of young singers and instrumentalists each season.
Instruction and classes at the Conservatory are paired with educational outreach activities that include world-class guest artists, teachers and mentors. The goal is to educate, entertain and involve the entire community in the joy of artistic performance through exposure to musical culture of the highest quality.
It is the mission of the ASO to make orchestral music available to as many people as possible. Innovative programming is designed to attract a wide variety of listeners and to increase audience appreciation of various orchestral repertoires. The ASO currently performs outreach concerts in outlying communities such as New Iberia, Abbeville and Crowley, Louisiana, and a number of churches and schools in Lafayette.
